The Ins and Outs of Stealing in Country Story

Short of the outright “attack” style Facebook games like Mafia Wars or Vampire Wars, there are very few games that task you with stealing from your fellow players. Country Story, however, is one of those games – integrating a unique gameplay element that allows you to take crops from your fellow players in exchange for friendship points which you will later boost back up. That said, stealing in Country Story is something that needs to be carefully balanced and handled, lest it get out of control and start to hurt your overall performance.

When Can You Steal?

It might seem like a fun way to take away from your friends and not really be doing anything wrong (it is a part of the game after all), but stealing is carefully measured in Country Story so that no one ever suffers that much because of it.

When you visit someone else’s farm, you will see a black glove on your screen that will display how many times you can steal from them. Basically, just look out for people who don’t harvest their crops right away. This probably applies to just about anyone, because if they’re not there watching the crops grow, they’ll probably have some time between completion and harvesting. To top things off, you should do the Dog quest at Level 8 and get your own farm dog so that you can protect your own crops from attack.

Stealing in Country Story is not about being a sneaky thief that maliciously takes from anyone he knows. It may seem like that, but the truth is that you are going to be going in and taking from people only as much as you can repay them. It’s like a proactive gift system, allowing to take without intent on the other end, presuming you give back to cover what you took. In that regard, it’s a fun addition to the game and one that will help you engage on an entirely new level with your neighbors.
